Do you know what a healthy family looks like? Do your children? If you want to be a healthy family, whatever it means to you, it is a good idea to start the conversation to understand not only what a healthy family is but to also understand what your children think it is. Once you come into agreement as to what a healthy family is then you can discover whether or not your family meets the criteria and what steps you can take to become healthier.

Your children witness all kinds of families through their school relationships, neighborhood friends, and even relatives. Explain that by signs you mean what is the evidence of a healthy family. Do not over define the term “healthy”. Allow them to decide what it means to them but help them understand it is not strictly based on medical wellbeing.

Families that eat together are stronger, healthier, and more secure. Be encouraged. Whatever your children’s responses have been know that you are becoming a better family.
