Would You Rather…?

Would You Rather…?
Sometimes the simplest of games, like the “Would you Rather” game can diffuse a stressful day at school or work. However, just because it is a simple game does not mean it can’t be meaningful. Let’s put a new twist on an old game and find out what our kids are really thinking about family time.

Table Topics

Question 1

Would you rather eat dinner at home around the table or at fast food?

Fast food may seem simpler or even more convenient than a full-blown home cooked meal so it is understandable if your child chooses that option. No matter how your son or daughter responds take this opportunity to share with them why you are being intentional about dinner time with your FreshTake meal. If they understand the purpose they are much more likely to support your decision and even to enjoy it.

Would you rather go to a movie or play a board game?

As the parent, you may need to interpret your child’s reply. If it has been a long week at school, a dark theater where he or she doesn’t have to engage may be just the ‘ticket’ even for an extremely social child. If your family has never tried a family game night at home the idea may seem outlandish. Use this opportunity to discover what your children would like to experience with the family. You can even let them come up with fun games.

Would you rather be able to share a hilarious joke or listen to one?

Be prepared for this question to remind them of their favorite, or least favorite, mom/dad joke and have them beg you to refrain from telling it….again. Laughter is a great way to enjoy family time and knowing whether your child wants to entertain or be entertained can help you plan more family activities around the table.

Even the simplest of conversations like the one started with these silly questions can help you and your children engage in intentional time with one another. Feel free to continue the “Would you Rather” game and let them ask some of their own. You may find that you are the one being entertained.
